For Such a Time as This
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me (GOD’S PRESENCE), because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor (JUSTICE). He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted (HEALING), to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners (FREEDOM), to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour (PEACE) and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn and provide for those who grieve in Zion (COMFORT) – to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, oil of joy instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair (JOY). They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendour (PURPOSE). Isaiah 61:1-3
Where is your sphere of influence? Where has God placed you because He wants His Kingdom to be released through you there? Whether it be on the street where you live, at your place of work, in your school even at your local supermarket, guard it and tend to it like you would a garden; uproot the weeds of anxiety and worry by introducing peace, let justice roll on like a river where the ground is dry, follow the example of Jesus our GP, Great Physician and confidently administer healing where the locusts and worms have caused devastation and harm, pruning away despair with the weapon of joy.
Wherever God has placed you, His Kingdom, your heavenly home ought to be advancing. You have been given everything that pertains to life and godliness, you are well equipped my friend. Yes, there may be times when you will stumble, fail, experience pain and disappointment but don’t camp there. Pick yourself up and dust yourself off child of God. Remember who you are and who’s you are for God has promised to never leave you or forsake you. You were called for such a time as this.
Me? Really? But Who am I? I can almost hear you ask, well I’m more than happy to remind you of who you are. The moment you said ‘yes’ to Jesus your predestination was activated and you came into alignment with God’s will for your life. As you now walk and work out your salvation with fear and trembling, remember that you are the righteousness of God, you are more than a conqueror, you are designed for good works, you are royalty and lead with integrity, you are called, chosen and sent by God to produce good fruit and simply because of your belief in Jesus, you have the ability to do greater works than He did. GLORY!
I could go on and on but I pray that after reading this devotion you pause and take a moment to ask Holy Spirit to help establish these truths in your heart. You were called for such a time as this.
